Cleaning your Remote Capture Scanner

To clean the rollers:
  • Go into the Fifth Third Direct system as if you are creating a deposit (click on "Capture Deposit)
  • Enter in an amount ($1.00)
  • Where you normally would scan checks, scan the rectangle alcohol strip provided by the bank  - do this several times on both sides of the strip
  • When you cleaning is complete, click on “close” at the bottom of the page.  You will only have a choice to “defer” or to “delete”, select “delete”
  • Click on “yes” when it asks if you are sure
  • Then log out as normal

To clean the camera:

  • Remove all three gray top sections of the scanner
  • Pull out the silver slide bar on the right side of the scanner
  • Unscrew the small white thumb screw located on the right side, bottom, center of the scanner
  • Open up the little “door”
  • Snap the end of the “q-tip cleaner” until liquid flows onto the end
  • Run the “q-tip cleaner” up and down both of the white sides inside the “door” – that is the camera
  • When finished, shut the door, replace the white thumb screw and put the gray pieces back onto the scanner

*When you have the gray pieces off, it would be a good idea to spray some canned air in the scanner. If you are noticing smudges, you should also use the “q-tip cleaner” to wipe off the rollers inside the scanner.
